Many of you know of our two BEM barges, the Ark and the Ebenezer, converted during the 70s. For a long time the year-teams used them on evangelistic campaigns in Flanders, working in collaboration with local churches. However, since 2005 the barges have served a different purpose. On board the Ark we have a Bible exhibition in Dutch (see www.bijbelexpo.be) and on the Ebenezer (where the barge team live) visitors are offered a cup of coffee before they leave. Since its installation the exhibition has welcomed several thousand visitors, including many school groups; they have all discovered the message of the Bible in a special way. It is often the first time that the pupils have heard the Gospel and they return home with a part of the Bible. Every day we hear testimonies from people who have accepted Jesus as Saviour through the exhibition.
Recently, our barges have been renovated. They are now up to current standards and have both received a new certificate. They could continue to navigate our waterways for years to come BUT… the old generator needs to be replaced – total cost 15000 Euros. So, can you come on board? Could you help us keep the barges afloat by taking part in the purchase of a new generator? Please send your gifts with the indication ’For the new generator for the barges’.
